Born in Springfield, Vermont, David Crandall began making jewelry at the age of 14. After working with a local jeweler for a few years, he desired to learn more and enrolled in the Jewelry Arts program at the Gemological Institute of America in Santa Monica, California. He learned goldsmithing, wax model making, rendering, casting and basic and advanced stone setting.
In 1986, he directed and was goldsmith for David Crandall Limited on Church Street in Burlington, Vermont, a store that quickly gained an excellent reputation for fine design-oriented jewelry. In 1990, David worked as a production manager and goldsmith for internationally known goldsmith Michael Good in Rockport, Maine, and learned the anticlastic method of metal forming. In December of 1992, he participated in opening Crandall’s Jewelry and Fine Handcrafts, which became Village Goldsmiths in Shelburne, Vermont.
With more than 40 years of experience, he creates genuine custom designs working with gold, platinum, fine diamonds and other beautiful gems.
For the past 25 years, David has operated a workshop and showroom in the Bridgewater Mill in Bridgewater, Vermont. Call me at (802) 672-5475 for current hours.
